Upon request, we also offer our guided tours in English, Spanish, and other foreign languages for an additional fee (€20 per group).
The Tuniberg bike tour begins in Breisach and follows a paved bike path past the southern end of the Kaiserstuhl. To our left are the magnificent terraces of the Winklerberg. We quickly and comfortably reach the wine-growing villages of Ihringen and Wasenweiler, winding our way through the fertile Upper Rhine Plain and past lush orchards and gardens.
The area around the Kaiserstuhl and Tuniberg is one of the warmest regions in Germany and is therefore also known as the “Tuscany of Germany.” In addition to wine, strawberries, cherries, pears, plums, and the popular Baden asparagus are grown here.
After Wasenweiler, we leave the Kaiserstuhl and continue toward Gottenheim am Tuniberg, the Kaiserstuhl’s “little brother.” Here, we leave the plains behind and set off along the Tuniberg Hiking Trail. The magnificent view from the top will quickly make you forget the moderate climb. The road runs dead straight through the vineyards—along the way, there are intersections, interesting signposts, and rose bushes, about which the tour guide has plenty of fascinating facts to share.
First, we’ll take in the view of Freiburg, the Dreisam Valley, the Schauinsland, and the Schönberg. Then we’ll enjoy the view of the Kaiserstuhl, the Rhine Valley, Alsace, and the Vosges Mountains. Before returning to the Rhine Valley, we’ll take in the view of the Ehrentrudi Chapel—an ancient pilgrimage site. From there, a panoramic view opens up of the Belchen and the Hoher Blauer in the Black Forest. Back on the plain, we’ll ride through the wine-growing villages of Niederrimsingen and Gündlingen to Hochstetten, a district of Breisach. Together, we’ll follow the green floodplains of the Rhine for the final stretch of the loop.
The price includes a group guide and a walking tour of the Münsterberg in Breisach. If we arrange additional services for you, such as coffee breaks, restaurants, or bicycles, we charge a processing fee of €25 per service booked.
The Tuniberg Cycling Tour promises pure nature. The sheltered climate of the Upper Rhine Valley provides a habitat for rare animals and plants.
